Two of these three smart boys belong to Claire St. Quinton, who stayed with us in Marhayes this October. The Weimarnaner is called Ozzy and according to Claire he is 10 months and is as "scatty and mental as they come", not unlike our Dexter was! The staffy is called Conan, and the boxer was staying next door at Westhayes. Claire went on to say: "We were really fortunate to have a dog of equal size and the same amount of brain cells as ours so they all got along perfectly! We had an amazing time and will definitely be back!"

These three shots have all been submitted by Carolyn Savage for the Helsbury Dog category, they stayed in Broadview this year and had a lovely time. As you can see the dogs were well and truly 'Helsbury'd', after playing in the river which runs through the land at Helsbury.

Colette Roberts and her family stayed at Westhayes twice last year in March and September, along with their two dogs Eddie (a Jack Russell/Chihuahua cross) and Frankie (a Shih Tzu) who can be seen above taking a rest after a hard day. Despite varied weather on both occassions Colette reports that they "still had a wonderful time and hope to return soon".

This shot is of Harley on Rock beach sent in by Craig Deans. Harley found Rock to be the best beach and returned there often during the week. This is a lovely shot showing off the stunning dunes and the Camel estuary in the background. The Deans family stayed in Westhayes this summer.

Thanks to Simon and Lily Waterfall for these wonderful shots of their beautiful dogs enjoying Cornwall and Helsbury this summer, they stayed in Broadview, which is one of our properties that allows more than 2 dogs. They had a wonderful time as these shots clearly show, this one was taken at Daymer Bay, one of the most popular places that our visitors go to.

After a hard day on the beach the dogs enjoyed a relaxing snooze! This is what we call 'Helsbury'd', there is a kind of tiredness which your dog feels which is unlike any other. It is a content, genuine sleep which is bought on by extreme happiness and satisfaction that every bit of grass has been sniffed and every corner of the beach explored.

Lily also said: "We had a lovely time and enjoyed our stay at the Broadview. The weather was on our side and the dogs enjoyed every minute of their stay! We will most definitely come back again next year and highly recommend you to others who are looking for a brilliant holiday for both dogs and dog owners."

Cornish Magazines...

A lot of Cornwall magazines have upgraded themselves this year and there are now plenty to choose from, check out these four:

  • Inside Cornwall - focussing on the culture of Cornwall, published monthly with a list of local events and news.

  • Cornwall Today -probably the best known with over half its subscribers coming from outside the county, it has general news as well as lots of features about Cornish life.

  • Cornish World - this one is aimed at the people who live in Cornwall rather than visitors or would-be residents, a bit more issue-led.

  • Taste Cornwall - as thname suggests this one is really about the food and the people who make or supply it, including recipes, restaurants and food features.

Worth picking one up when you are down here before you subscribe.
