Wearable tech for Dogs tells you how they are feeling!
According to the Springwise web site there is now an app that enables you to better communicate with animals. In the past we’ve seen projects use EEG to read dog’s thoughts, but now Voyce is using a smart collar and app to track their fitness and understand their health.
Voyce is designed to replace dog’s usual collars with its sensor-embedded device, which monitors vital signs such as heart rate and respiratory rate, and tracks how active the animal is over time. Using the companion app, owners can see if their pet is getting enough exercise or sleep, how many calories they’re burning, and if they begin to show abnormal heart and breathing rates that could be early indicators of health problems. The app also uses algorithms to analyze the data and offer personalized tips and articles that might help improve the dog’s wellbeing and their relationship with their owner. Users can also share photos, stats and achievements on social networks, or with their vet, straight from the app.

Is the toilet bowl half empty?
Can dogs be pessimistic? Not when they're at Helsbury Park! Joking aside this is an interesting article about dogs emotions and moods. Dogs are great at appearing to sulk but I can't help thinking it's received behaviour which they know gets a certain reaction or attention - it definitely works on me when Solly does his 'flat dog' routine.

Pet Acoustics
Pet Acoustics Unleashes the World’s First Sound System Designed to Support the Hearing Sensitivities of Dogs, Cats, and Horses.
My Pet Speaker transforms your personal music library into pet-friendly tunes that soothe and relax dogs, cats, horses, and their people. Innovative Pet Acoustics iPhone Application plays music specifically composed to reduce a pet’s stress, anxiety, and aggression caused by their reaction to sounds.Pet Acoustics Inc, a company dedicated to bringing products to market that bring balance and well being to the animals that share their lives with us, announces the Pet Acoustics My Pet Speaker. This innovative speaker is the world’s first sound system designed to cater specifically to the hearing sensitivities of dogs, cats, and horses.
Founders of Pet Acoustics, a leading authority on music for animals, Janet Marlow and Sam Laufer, (Laufer Teknik) have designed a revolutionary speaker system designed for your pets’ delicate hearing. With their acute sense, our pets can hear frequencies that are both much higher and much lower than what the human ear is capable of hearing. Sounds outside of an animals normal comfort range can startle or cause discomfort to our pets.
Designed to eliminate these unsettling frequencies, My Pet Speakerfeatures an Omni directional speaker with a 4” drive unit and cone reflector which disburses the music in 360 degrees recreating how animals hear in nature. By producing limited frequencies and featuring a soft bass design for listening comfort, your pets will not be startled or disturbed by jarring volumes and piercing sounds that put them on alert. My Pet Speaker keeps these alarming frequencies within the comfort range of your pet’s hearing. This allows you to use your entire music library to fill you and your pets’ environment with a sense of calm and relaxation.

Tellington Touch...
Solly recently started his Tellington Touch training with Shona Moon. It's a new kind of treatment that is very tuned to the dog's mindset. Solly really enjoyed it and seemed to visibly settle into it and relax. He went from anxious and out of his comfort zone to being very laid back and open to trying some new experiences. We have a bit further to go but it's looking good.

Our dog whisperer...
Shona has done a number of visits now with our guests and is getting some great feedback, check this comment out from Anita Hope who saw Shona last week:
"Whilst staying at Helsbury Park, Shona Moon came to have a two hour session with our Hungarian vizsla, Willow. The session was extremely interesting and it was great to see Shona interact with Willow in a calm way (she is a very excitable dog!) We now have a number of techniques to use to help with Willow's behaviour. I would definitely recommend Shona to anyone who wants to add an extra dimension to their doggie holiday."
For more information check out Shona's web site.
