Top Ten Dog Friendly Pubs
According to Cornwall Today, a superb publication, these are the top 10 dog friendly pubs in Cornwall:
There are of course many more and we'd be glad to hear of any you've been to and can recommend, just drop us an email.
- The Red River Inn - Gwithian: dogs are provided with a chew on their way in to the pub!
- The Watering Hole - Perranporth: Perran sands is a wonderful beach and allows dogs all year round
- The Mill House Inn - Trebarwith: our nearest beach which is also dog friendly all year (you can also try the Port William which is nearer the beach)
- The Red Lion - Mawnan Smith: dogs re welcome all through and apparently there's sometimes more dogs than drinkers!
- The Fountain Inn - Mevagissey: Ideal if you're down in the area for Eden or Heligan
- Sands Bar - Praa Sands: a beach cafe which provides doggy nibbles and water, although the beach does not allow dogs in the summer
- The Rock Inn - Rock: Another local one to us, th wak from Rock to Polzeath is one of the treats of the North Coast and takes in the ever popular Daymer Bay
- The Edgcumbe Arms - Cremyll: Kingsand beach is very popular and allows dogs all year
- The Logan Rock - Treen: near Porthcurno and the amazing Minack Theatre
- The Fisherman's Arms - Golant: on the Saint's Way near Fowey, alovely spot.
There are of course many more and we'd be glad to hear of any you've been to and can recommend, just drop us an email.
What's New on our New Web Site...
We've been beavering away with a new version of the Helsbury Park web site, which launched this week. There's a lot of new features which should make the site experience much more interesting and engaging, here's a few to look out for:
- Wider page format - so we can get more content on each page, this has reduced the number of pages in the site so there's less clicking
- Latest News feed - there's a feed from this blog on the home page so you get a flavour of the latest news without having to visit both sites
- Panoramas - we've integrated a brand new set of 360 degree panoramas into the cottage pages for Marhayes and Westhayes, they're much easier to use than the previous versions, you can pan as well as zoom
- Quick Availability - there's now a quick preview of availability on each cottage page to make it easier to see when it's available
- Site page - we've got a new page dedicated to the land helping you to understand the unique facility the 100 acres of land is as part of the Helsbury experience
Pool and Spa page - in anticipation of the launch of the pool which is looming ever closer, we've put a page on the site, obviously we'll update it nearer the time - New Galleries Section - there's now a whole section of the site for our galleries, we've also added a wildlife gallery
- Sustainable Tourism - we've also designated a page to keep you up to date with our sustainable approach, where we'll focus on our achievements, developments an strategy for making your holiday as sustainable as possible
- Holidaying with your Dog - tips and advice on taking your dog on holiday
- Updated Guests section - new pages include an executive summary of our offer and a list of our awards
- Streamlined Attractions section - we've amalgamated the activities and attraction section so its easier to navigate
- Cornwall 2009 brochure - we've managed to get a pdf copy of the official Cornwall 2009 guide for you to download as well
We hope you like the improvements and we really value your feedback, please let us know your comments.

Helsbury Park Dog Photo Competition 2008/09 Entry 24
Well this is it, the last entry in our 2009 dog photo competition, voting will start very soon. Claire Lloyd sent these cracking shots of their dog Dave (great name ;o) and said "Just a short e-mail to say how much we enjoyed staying at Westhayes last week - we had a truly lovely time and look forward to our next visit."
Hope Rescue
We supported this great charity last year by donating a week to their annual auction, in return we got a nice review on their forum, check it out.
