Bridge over the River Camel...

There won't be many new bridges over the River Camel any time soon so we're very lucky to have had permission to build this lovely bridge providing access to the land we have on the other side of the river.

 This bridge provides walkies on another 20 acres of land including another huge fenced paddock and more lovely woodland. It will be finished over the Winter and ready for guests in 2014. Just in case you need reminding you can see some images of the land at Helsbury here on our website.

Nice feedback from Jan Yates, who stayed with last week: "Just a quick note now we are back home to say a big thank you for our wonderful week in Cornwall. Helsbury Park was even better than our high expectations combining both People & Dog friendly! Great facilities and super quality all round. We had a lovely week and both us and the dogs walked for miles. We hope to come back next year for another week."

A unique way of getting round Helsbury...

Rob Elliott recently stayed with us last week and he said: "This is the best cottage we have stayed in. Our week has flown by. The cottage is well planned and stocked. The swimming pool is fantastic. Our dogs have been very comfortable, I would recommend the cottage to friends, we've had a wonderful time. Thank you."

Quality in Tourism Report

We're very happy to announce that Helsbury Park has been awarded 5 Star Gold for the 3rd year on the run, this year's report saw some of our highest ever marks, with the Farmhouse scoring 96% overall, here are some of the key comments:

"A very thorough standard of cleanliness and housekeeping standards to all properties, which is credit to the efforts of the team."

"Helsbury Park is an accommodation gem offering superb quality standards throughout. Guests are able to enjoy the excellent leisure facilities and access to the accompanying extensive pasture land. A real highlight is the dog friendly holiday experience, which has been very carefully considered to offer outstanding service in this field."

The Farmhouse Garden...

Just wanted to explain how the garden works at the Farmhouse if you're not familiar. There are in effect three gardens, there's the space to the front which is open and provides access to the pool and land. There's a secure dog garden which is gravel underfoot and has a kennel and dog fencing to make sure your dog is enclosed, great for a midnight wee!

There's a garden focused on the humans in the party which has an eating and relaxing area, you're more than welcome to have your dog in with you but you do have a choice.

And the back of the garden which we've fenced off which houses the office, which is now a communal space for people who're looking to use the internet facility and there's also a small children's playground which we're looking to keep a poo free zone for obvious reasons.

Changes for 2011...

As you will have noticed, we're going to be letting the Farmhouse from March of next year which means we've made some changes to the way Helsbury works for 2011. The key changes are around the pool, once you arrive on site we'll give you a briefing on using the facilities in the pool including the cover, the coin-operated sauna and the new button access system. This means the pool will be available at any time of the day and night, which we hope will please our guests.

The second major change is that we're making our office building available to all guests so they can access the internet to catch up on work or email in peace. Internet access in remote areas like Helsbury is not great but we have a 3mb broadband connection and a wireless hub which should be enough to allow guests to keep up to date.

Waitrose now Delivering to Helsbury...

As Waitrose increases it's presence in the South West so new areas are being opened up to which they will deliver, and in the last few weeks they have started supporting the PL32 postcode which is great news if you're a fan of the brand. There are limited delivery slots while it's being piloted but luckily Friday afternoon is one of them.

The Pool is Officially Open...

And to celebrate that fact we invited Ken McMahon from Lookaround Cornwall to come in and take a 360 degree panorama shot of the interior so you really get a feel of what a fantastic addition to the facilities it really is. There are also some more up to date pictures of the pool on our flickr page, as well as lots of the construction taking place.

The Sauna is Finished!!

It's a small victory in the long battle to get our pool finished but it seems exciting to get one room completed and it's huge, room for about 10 people at least. Next it's the gym!
