Stunning walk at Golitha...

We were working out that it has been 10 years since we were last at Golitha Falls on Bodmin Moor, we were there on Saturday and it was really magical. It is a short drive from Helsbury across the A30 over at Jamaica Inn. It is a wooded valley with a lovely footpath and a series of falls on the upper reaches of the River Fowey. Dogs are allowed off the leads and there were plenty enjoying the water when we were there. Afterwards we made the short trip around to Siblyback Reservoir where there is a lovely 2 mile walk and a cafe. Other attractions in the area include St Neot, the Minions and the Cheesewring. All in all a great day out.

Cornwall Cam

Cornwall Cam has some great features on north Cornwall just lately, over the Easter break there's been some lovely shots up on Roughtor [which you can see from Helsbury]. But they've also been to Daymer Bay, and Rock. Definitely worth a look.

Helsbury Park Dog Photo Competition 2008/09 Entry 24

Well this is it, the last entry in our 2009 dog photo competition, voting will start very soon. Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty...

Or AONB for short, there's a lot of them, no less than 12 in Cornwall and 3 on the doorstep of Helsbury Park. Bodmin Moor is one of the biggest, the Camel Estuary one of the most spectacular and the North Coast is an absolute treaure. Stannon Circle & Moor Walk

We took a lovely walk on Bodmin Moor a few Sundays ago, in reasonable sunshine we headed up to the stone circle at Stannon in the shadow of Roughtor. The stone circle itself is a good example and well worth a look. On the way back to Helsbury across the moor we passed the only remaining engine house on the north of the moor and a wonderful example of an ancient clapper bridge.
